“He’s gone. He’s gone.” (Sincerely Scary)

The tears you shed every night,

They haunt me.

I hear your cries,

“He’s gone. He’s gone.”

Or even worse,

I’ll hear his cries

As the battlefield shakes beneath me.

The Battle of Sand Mountain surrounds me

Every night as I try sleeping.

And again, it ends with your cries,

“He’s gone. He’s gone.”

Interesting Fact: this is actually loosely based off of me and where I live!!! I actually live where a battle of the Civil War was fought!!! Scary right? The people that lived here before us experienced quite a bit of ghost activity. Though I haven’t experienced a lot, I do remember hearing a female crying. From that, I created a theory that she was crying over the death of her husband in the war. That theory turned into this poem!!
